The first snow dump of 2011

We’ve had very little snow so far this season. As I wrote earlier, I’m not a fan of the white stuff, so that suits me just fine. (Although I’ll admit it was a little sad not to have a White Christmas this year.)

This morning we woke up to a veritable winter wonderland. There was at least 20 cm of virgin snow blanketing my neighbourhood, with more fluttering down every second. It was a scene straight out of a Christmas card. Even I, a total Grinch when it comes to snow, thought it was extremely pretty.

Younger Daughter and I took Jeff the dog outside for a romp. Nobody else was out, and as mounds of snow tend to dampen sound, it was very peaceful. Also a little cold: about minus 5°, which actually isn’t too bad if you’re properly dressed.

This is Jeff’s third winter, and every year he gets completely freaked out the first time he encounters snow. You can see for yourself in the short video I’ve posted below.

Now that I’ve done my duty as a blogger, I’m returning to winter hibernation mode: lots of fleece, hot green tea, and curling up in front of the fire.
